✋ Your story isn’t finished (even if you’ve typed “The End”)

Hi Reader!

Whether you’re ahead on your November writing goals (and have just typed "The End" 🎉) or already know you’ll be pushing right up to the end of the month…

The ‘I’ve finished’ phase comes with its own weird, quiet feeling.

The rush of drafting fades.

But the story is still living in your head, and suddenly you don't know what to do with your time. 🤷

It's almost a hollow feeling, but with a warmth to it.

✨ It's the afterglow. 🥰

(And it’s not always comfortable)

Your brain needs this creative cooldown before it can see your story clearly again.

And you might be tempted to skip right past this part. To open the document too soon, start fixing typos and tweaking sentences.

If you do that ☝️, you’ll miss the bigger picture. You won’t know whether your story is truly finished.

But when you pause—even for just a few days—you’ll start to notice what's really there. (And what’s not there, but should be.)

⚡ Where the tension builds.

💤 Where it sags.

😩 The places your character's arc actually lands vs. where you thought it would.

Your creative mind needs time and space to rest before you switch to editor mode.

And in just a few weeks, I’m opening the doors to a unique, limited-time opportunity to put that editor 🧠 brain to work.

A themed group event that helps you see the gaps in your draft 👀 the way a reader would. (Here’s a sneak peek! 👇)

I’ll tell you more about the special event soon.

For now, if you just finished a draft (or if you're close but stuck), give yourself permission to step back. Let it breathe.

Until then, trust yourself and the process.

(And, if you haven’t typed “The End” yet, keep writing!)

💖

Hi Reader! Trees are getting naked (my backyard is practically a carpet of fallen yellow leaves)... 🍂 The air has a bite to it (feels like summer fled in two weeks flat)... 💨🥶 And holiday romance books are everywhere. (One of them might even be your own!) 🎄📕 It's officially holiday book season... And I am here for it! And because I never fully outgrew my romance book reviewer roots—I LOVE 🥰 sharing book recs—there's a peek at my holiday TBR below. 👋 But what I'd really like to know is what...

Hi Reader! Not all tools are created equal. Or, rather, not all tools work equally well for all writer brains. 🌶️ (Neurospicy, right here! 🤩) And there is one request I get a lot for my existing workshops and courses: "Sue, that pdf workbook is pretty, but..." ❌ I don't have a printer. ⌨️ I do my work digitally. 🧹 I need a clean, streamlined way to work. I hear ya, loud and clear! (Because 2/3 of ☝️ apply to me too). And while I do have one program with a digital fill-in version of the pdf...

Hi Reader! Yesterday afternoon, I was sitting in my office (upstairs) and hear a crash (downstairs). I look around. The cat is here. ✅ My partner is in his office. ✅ 😰 What caused that crash?! When I walk downstairs, the first thing I notice is the smell. ♨️ (Sugar, strong.) And the carpet is drenched. 💦 (But not from any source that makes sense.) After about 5 minutes of investigation, I realize that this 👇 is the culprit... 😈 Naughty Loki! The cork had exploded from the bottle, and the...
